Hair

When I was younger my hair used to flow
Down my back like a river
When people touched it I'd quiver
Shiver
And I still do today
But either way
I loved my long locks
Soft and straight
But fast forward to today
I realise my hair isn't something to celebrate
But to separate
And sever from myself
This tangled trap is not a haven
It's a disguise
Something I used to hide from prying eyes
To blend into the scene
So I wasn't seen
This invisibility cloak I equipped
Is no longer something I need to wear
To hide from the stares
Because I have changed
And while I'm still working out some flaws
And building up my confidence stores
I don't need to hide
These dead drapes hanging down and around
Which blocked out the sound
Of others
And myself
Soft and straight doesn't suit me now
I've hardened over time
I'm no mime
I won't continue to act
And react
As I am told is proper
Because that is not real
That is not me
It may have been what I needed before
But that isn't what life has in store
And it's time I embraced the new me
And see
Who I'm going to be

Love

Love is like winter
 Slowly drifting down
Billowing and howling
Its magic cloaks the world
Claiming its latest victim

Like a sheet of ice
Of varying depths
Thin and brittle
Strong and thick
 Hidden in plain sight

Like a snowflake
 Each one is individual
Falling lazily to the ground
A blizzard of white
But gone in the burning day

Evil Friendship

Your taunting smile
Your broken compliments
A sadists life

The wolfs cry

A howling wind whips free,
Free from the wolfs mouth it pours.
To set the sky alight with longing,
As it grips the moon in its jaws

A Tempest of Emotion

A sea of sorrow,
A calming light.

And me, a boat, just out of sight

Upon the water swaying side to side
Slave to the pull of this momentus tide
The cold chill waits
And the boat it breaks
And is dragged down into the lonely night

Perfection (Dedicated to Luci)

I remember hearing someone
Not a long time ago
Saying perfection isn't being flawless
It's being you and not bending with the flow
Any time I was upset she'd sit and talk to me
Lecture me about how I shouldn't hold it in
She didn't want to see me blue
Was worried that darkness might win

She called me beautiful and amazing
Put glitter in my hair
Every single time I've been down
She's always been there
Proping me up
Despite any resistance
She's a beautiful soul too you see
She's been the distance

Because we're all so very different
We all walk different paths
And our minds aren't organised
And neithers what they craft
Sometimes you'll feel all alone
Like yesterday's broken toy
But stay on your feet
It'll get better soon
Because being perfect is being you

Souless lens

Numbers and phrases rattle and echo in her empty head
The most pressing of which is thoughts of her bed
The words muttered are little more than white noise
What she's doing as important as playing with toys
 Staring dully through a window

At the boring brick walls

At the bars to keep them in

As silence falls

A questions been asked to a daydreaming fool
He splutters and mutters like a total tool
And she sits and waits for the bell to chime
And waits for the freedom of 3:10 home time
